Weeks 9 and 10: Nearing the end!

So I know i’m a little late with this one but better late than never, right?

These are the last few weeks of my internship. I really can’t believe it has winded down so quickly. It is definitely a bittersweet time for me. I am graduating college in less that 2 months and will have to be catapulted into the real world! As I have said in numerous blog posts before this, my internship here at MTV was a dream come true. I am so passionate about creating things and to be able to do that at a network as big as MTV and a company as large as Viacom is surreal.

Throughout my time here, I have learned so much about myself and about the talent and casting industry. It takes a lot of time, energy, and patience to work here. New talent is dealt with on a daily basis so you definitely must be friendly and enthusiastic.I have enjoyed every single project I am given here.

Something new that I have picked up on over these past 2 weeks has been how quick paced my department is. Since we are directly involved in creating and developing new shows out of nothings, things have to move fast. My superiors are constantly meeting with people and Skyping with them in order to obtain the right footage to make a casting tape. If one person doesn’t work out, they quickly move on to the next without hesitation. Over the course of my internship, I have been directly involved with 4 shows in development. 2 other shows that I have worked on have been on air for some time and include: Girl Code, What’s Good (on MTV2). It is truly amazing how hard everyone works in order to submit these new shows to executives. I love being able to see firsthand what MTV looks for in their talent and how they ultimately get chosen for the shows!

I have really begun to grow a relationship with all of the people above me and have learned a lot from them. I will definitely miss their guidance once I leave but I know I will be able to network with them long after I am gone. My graduation countdown is at 46 days… It is definitely a crazy time for me. Once my internship is officially over next week, I will have a lot more time to focus on my schoolwork (my two online classes) as well as finish up the crazy amounts of internship work that has to be handed in before graduation. I am working on getting together my producer reel featuring all of the projects I have done throughout my college career! I am excited to share that with everyone and hopefully it comes out great!

I will have one more wrap up blog post next week with a video and reel of pictures of my experiences thus far so be on the lookout for that!
